Deaths
The original Shadowgate was known for its myriad of ways to die, often with amusing or horrific accompanying text. With extremely rare exceptions, this trend carries over into all of the sequels. Here are a number interesting ways that Del can meet his end in this particular game. They're mostly falling off of things, but there's some fun descriptions. You can use this list to see all the flavor text following a demise, or to avoid traps and keep Del alive.
- In the Drain room, walk to one of the large grates at the end. There will be a skeleton in some deeper water. Ignore the warning that pops up and wade further in.
- In the main Cave room, step into the water.
- In the Cathedral, climb up the ladder to the little walkway that leads to the roof. Step off the ledge.
- On the roof of the Cathedral, step into any of the holes.
- Drink the Forest Nectar.
- In Lakmir's bedroom, use the Forest Nectar in the bowl. Either by itself or mixed with another liquid.
- Equip The Green Ring.
- Enter the Dungeon Keepers room without any violins in your inventory.
- Try to place the Violin Without Strings or the Cracked Violin on the Dungeon Keepers music table.
- After rescuing Agaar, try to leave the dungeon without locking the cell.
- In Excavation Area 1, step off the edge of the shallow pit.
- In Excavation Area 2, step off the path and into either shallow pit.
- In the Trials Tower, walk into the spinning blades.
- In the Stable, light the hay on fire while the Stable Boy is present.
- In the Dragon Tower, step off the ledge in the main room.
- On the Dragon Tower Roof, attempt to take the Staff of Ages while not wearing The Ring of the Kingdom.
- After freeing the dragon, approach any of the dwarf guards you now see patrolling the grounds.
- In the Chamber of Holding, walk around the altar and enter the small room to find Belzar.
- In the Park after Talimar is released, attempt to give the Staff of Ages to Jair's statue without wearing The Ring of the Kingdom.
